TB12 Nutrition

Living in the content world it never shuts off, it is a 24 hour a day business.  That is why I am writing this blog today usually, it is twice a week but I think I am going to move to more of 3-4 times a week depending on what is happening in the world of sports. Two things drive the content of this blog sports and food and then what happens in our world.  I feel like twice a week is not enough editions to not be behind.   I feel like I needed to address things that happened earlier in the week, the scandal at Arizona.  As you recall ESPN college basketball reporter Marc Schlabach reported that Arizona Men’s Basketball Coach Sean Miller was on an FBI phone tap talking to a representative for Deandre Ayton offering him $100K to sign with the school.  That Saturday Miller decided not to coach the Wildcats in their game at Oregon, and on Thursday prior to coaching his team at Stanford, he addressed the media.  Miller vehemently denied ever making a phone call to Ayton’s representative, Christian Dawkins, he even went as far as saying that he never met Dawkins until after Ayton verbally committed to Arizona.  This brings up a few interesting questions, one if the ESPN report is false will Miller and Arizona seek damages?, two where did Schlabach get the FBI report? three who else sees a problem with FBI leaks?  In my opinion, Schlabach had to be 100% sure the report was accurate since he reported this damaging report last Saturday.  If he or ESPN were not 100% sure that this report was true, they are taking a heck of a chance, this could be the straw that breaks the ESPN back.  ESPN is losing 100s of  1000s of subscribers every month and really outside of the live games that they have the rest of the content is awful!  I will say that there is something happening when they interviewed LeBron James about it he said, “I grew up poor and let me tell you, whether it was the NBA or college, we were not going to be poor anymore!”

Piggybacking off of the ESPN take, earlier this week when the story broke about Miller allegedly offering $100K to play at Arizona, the yearly pay the athletes debate took off.  Jay Williams and Jalen Rose both had the position that the top players in the NCAA should skip the NCAA Final Four to send a message to the NCAA.  The NCAA needs to change and I think that we can all agree with that. These two individuals asking players to do what they would not is ridiculous.  Neither of these guys would have ever done what they are suggesting, neither of them stayed the full four years in college and took full advantage of everything that the college experience had to offer.  Jalen Rose was part of one of the greatest basketball teams of all time the “Fab Five” I am sure he is still using connections that he got from being on that team and still uses that team to his advantage.  So spare me the tears that you were taken advantage of while in college.  The same with Jay Williams, I am sure he does not take advantage of all of the opportunities that his Duke degree and association with college basketball has given him.  Both of these athletes had the opportunity to go straight to the pros instead of going to college, so they successfully used the collegiate system to educate themselves and make their lives better after basketball.  I wish these former college players would help to educate these young men that college is about the next 40 years and not the four years they will be in school.  At the same time, I do think that these guys should be able to make money off of their likeness, jerseys, and autographs, etc.

Hope you like the new format and you can expect 3-4 blogs a week.  The new ones may be a little shorter, but the original Sunday and Thursday ones will still be the same length.  Well, see you guys Sunday with the mock draft.  Also, I am thinking about including a new Thursday conversation with an athlete, coach, or chef, so if you know anyone that might be interested DM me or have them DM me on Twitter @WCPeters_1
