The Super Bowl is Sunday and will be held in Minnesota.  The Patriots on the heels of a 4th Quarter comeback win against the Jaguars will represent the AFC and the Eagles after running roughshod over the Vikings in the NFC Championship game will represent the NFC.  The Patriots obviously have the experience in this one as almost everyone on the roster has played in multiple Super Bowls.  The Eagles are the complete opposite as they have very little Super Bowl experience, hell there QB has only started about 6 games this year.  I think this will be a better game than most think.  First, the Patriots have yet to play a blowout Super Bowl, and this one has the feeling that if the Eagles win it will be close, but the Patriots could also beat them by 4 touchdowns.  On paper, the Patriots offense is better than the Eagles especially with Gronk coming back and the Eagles defense is one of the tops in the league.  The Eagles quarterback Nick Foles is playing out of his mind and if he continues the Eagles will have a great chance of pulling the win out.  There are so many storylines in this one from Josh McDaniels and Matt Patricia last game as Patriots, is Tom Brady leaving if he wins this one, are Kraft, Brady, and Belichick fighting, and is Doug Pederson really a QB whisperer.  It will be interesting to see how the Eagles and their young Head Coach handle the carnival that is the Super Bowl.  The Patriots having the experience edge in this one will definitely benefit them as they are used to all of the distractions that lead up to the game.  These are all things to look for in the game on Sunday and I will give you the winner below.

The other great part of Super Bowl Sunday is the party for the game.  The party is a great time to get together with neighbors or family and enjoy the biggest game of the year.  The menu usually includes some old favorites such as wings, buffalo chicken dip, sliders, pulled pork, and nachos.  I am not sure where we are having at our SB party but I know that Erin and I are bringing brownies and buffalo chicken dip.  Erin “homemakes” her brownies from  Trader Joe’s, the Chocolate Truffle Brownie Mix.  I will post the buffalo chicken dip recipe below.

Buffalo Chicken Dip

  1. 1 package 8 oz of cream cheese
  2. Secret to the best Buffalo Chicken Dip must use chicken from a rotisserie chicken
  3. 1/2 cup Frank’s Red Hot
  4. 1 cup ranch
  5. 2 cups shredded Monterrey Jack Cheese
  6. 2 cups of shredded SHARP Cheddar Cheese
  7. Celery, Carrots, or Tortilla Chips for dipping

Preheat oven to 350°.  In a medium saucepan on low melt the cream cheese and fold in the shredded chicken. Add ranch, Frank’s Hot Sauce, the Monterrey Jack Cheese and 1/2 of the sharp cheddar to the saucepan.  Transfer to an 8×8 square dish and top with the remaining cheddar cheese, sprinkle a dash of garlic powder and onion powder before remaining sharp cheddar cheese.  Then warm in the oven until top is warm and bubbly should take 30-45 minutes.

This weekend the PGA Tour is the best tournament that I have ever been to, The Waste Management Phoenix Open.  I have been a couple times before and I really need to get back there.  This tournament is unlike any other there will be 100’s of thousands of people there this weekend and the 16th hole is unlike any other on the tour.  Here is a preview of the tournament that started today:

This is what you can expect at the par 3 16th hole:

This seems pretty fun!!

This week we had both the removal of Cheif Wahoo from the Indians uniform and the first State of the Union Address by President Trump, but I am not going to comment on them here as I am not about to turn this into a political blog.  I would like to see them replace Chief Wahoo with the C and feather from GV Art. It would be a great PR move to have a small business from Cleveland make the new logo.

Today, the dying network that is ESPN, they reported that LeBron James is open to talking to the Warriors this summer.  First off, I doubt this is true because ESPN will print and report anything that they think will drive ratings since they are losing subscribers by the hundreds of thousands a month.  Secondly, why if it is true why would LBJ leak this now in the middle of the season?  Thirdly, if he left the Cavs for Warriors at the end of the season, the media and fans would annihilate him.  His legacy would be trash, presumably, the Cavs will play the Warriors for the Championship for the fourth year in a row and win or lose it would not be a good look for him to go to GSW.  LBJ may leave Cleveland after the 2018 season but there is no way he goes to GSW, you heard it here first.

Here are the winners for Sunday including some Prop bets:

  1. Since the bigging of this blog I have talked myself into the Patriots winning by two touchdowns, so take the Patriots -4.5 and over 48.
  2. Take tails -105
  3. Over 2:00 for National Anthem
  4. Over 5 Donald Trump  Tweets on Sunday
  5. Best Value Amendola +1000 to score the first TD

I am also excited about the halftime show featuring Justin Timberlake.  JT is the most talented entertainer of our generation.  He is a great singer, dancer, and actor, plus I think at least one member of N’SYNC will join him on stage!

That is all for this week, see you on Sunday with the results from the game and a recap of all the action. Remember, February 15 pitchers and catchers report!  Go Tribe!
